Another Edwards Dilemma !

Have yet again downloaded from the 1851 census, and have only come up with half of the family. The main people I'd like to find out about must be on the other page. Obviously, if I knew their names, things would be a bit easier.

The address looks something like 6 Paternoster Row, Birkenhead.

I'm trying to find the names of the parents of Sarah Edwards aged 4? months born Cheshire / Birkenhead. (mentioned as daur)

On the 1861 census she is mentioned as step-daur. to a Charles Dodd, so it looks like her parents could have died between the 1851 - 1861 census.

I feel a bit guilty asking for help two days on the trot, but if some kind person can help me out on this one, I should be very grateful.

Thanks

I can only find 1 marriage of a Charles Dodd to an Edwards & she is Martha not Elizabeth

Marriages Sep 1858
Dodd Charles Wirral 8a 543
Edwards Martha Wirral 8a 543

If she was described as step-daughter it is likely that it was her father that had died and her mother remarried. What was Charles wife's name on the 1861 census?

are there any other siblings of Sarah with a more unusual name that you could identify the birth reg for. There are too many Sarah's to be certain which is the right one.
Do you know if/who Sarah married?

The Joseph Orton in the 1861 census that Carole mentioned and Catherine posted definitely shows his a=10, but I think this was probably a mistranscription by the enumerator. This is the same age as Sarah, and also he's a hears(e) driver. I suspect his a=19. This ties in with:

There are 6 John Edwards' deaths in Wirral in 1851-1861 inclusive, all in 1856q1-1860q3. I didn't find a suitable birth for Joseph, but there is a possible George (NB Wirral RD included Tranmere)

Hi Catherine.....It looks like I was the one who gave you the wrong address for the 1851 census. My apologies for that, but thanks for other info you've passed on which has been a great help.

Hi mgnv....that's wonderful thanks. Definitely the right family. I've now managed to trace Sarah Edwards(b 1850) brother John born 1856 up to the 1901 census which is fantastic.

Thanks again for all your help.

Best Wishes
Carole
