I am just wondering if the girls where born in Merton in London then surely they must have had NI numbers ........ or am I wrong, then could Traceline not tell you when the numbers became inactive ?
When I was helping an adoptee who we thought the BM had gone abroad they where able to tell us roughly when the number became inactive and an approx year .

James Mills was indeed a Farmer but again I do not know where.This appeared on the Marriage Cert of my Father Joseph and Kathleen Mills.

Thanks for looking Jean.The problem I have is that they are def not in England or Wales according to Traceline who go by National Insurance numbers.For info Kathleen Agnes Mills father was James Mills who was deceased by the time of the marriage on 31/8/1940.James was a Farmer.
My dad was a widower aged 23 on the certificate,his first wife dying in childbirth. Ive only found this out since starting my tree 3 years ago.So if anyone has access to Irish records that could be where they are! Heres hoping.Happy new year,Brian

I have looked for Kathleen Mills/Thomas death and just in case the marriages of my sisters but nothing. i ordered the marraige certs of the possibles but no joy. There is is Kathleen Mills b 1916 died in Oxfordshire but this wasnt correct either. I cannot pinpoint her birth so I do wonder if she was Scottish/Irish and took the kids back there. Traceline ,who done a search for me state there are no medical records in England and Wales for them.Thanks again J

Thanks Kath. I have both those certs but its not the same person. The prob is because both sisters dont have a national insurance number in England and Wales I think they are in Ireland or Scotland. Thanks again! Brian

It might not help at all but there are these two marriages for a Kathleen P. Thomas at about the time I would think she might marry:-

Kathleen P. Thomas, spouse Neil MacDonald
June qtr. 1960, Barton, 10b, 378

and:-

Kathleen P. Thomas, spouse Malcolm G. Davies
Sept. qtr. 1962, E. Glamorgan, 8b, 802

It might be worth asking for a look up on a recent electoral register for a Kathleen Patricia MacDonald or a Kathleen Patricia Davies, just in case one of these happens to be the one you are looking for.

Thanks Pam. I gave access to Kerry to my tree as she is related under my partners side of the tree. I feel Ive exhausted so many avenues there must be someone out there who has that tiny snippet of info that will help.Any ideas? Brian

Use the Search facility (under GR logo top left hand side) and put in Maureen Thomas. There is an entry by 'Kerry' for Maureen born 1941 Merton, also has Kathleen in her family tree.

Hi Folks, Looking for my half sisters Maureen Thomas b 3/1/1941 and Kathleen Patricia Thomas b 20/2/1943 in Merton, South London. I have no immediate family to ask as my parents are deceased. I have tried the Traceline service when it was still going and they looked for both for me but couldn't be of assisstance. I have looked on passenger lists as well but to no avail. The Mother of the girls Kathleen nee Mills was born about 1916 according to my Dads marriage cert. they would of split in the 50's . The rumour has it that she wouldnt divorce my Dad being a Catholic.So my Mother and Father never married. Any ideas where I turn now would be appreciated. The fact Traceline state there is no National Insurance number for them for England and Wales means they could be in Ireland or Scotland.Thanks for any ideas,Happy New Year Brian
