Hi Dee
Yes John Cooper is deceased on Walters Marriage Certificate.
Lizzie is on the 1901 Census as part of the family.

What's John Benjamin Coopers occupation?? Is he still alive when Walter marries, it doesn't say deceased on Walters marriage cert does it??

Lizzie isn't on the 1891 census, have you managed to trace her??

Thanks Dee for your prompt reply.
It sounds right but there is no mention of a Sophia in the children list. The Census of 1891 has Sophia as the head of the household along with the children that I know of and living at 22 Content Street but that could be possible if Walter was at sea. I guess until I get an actual birth certificate for him I won't know for sure.

I am trying to find out about my Great Grandfather Walter Cooper. He was a sailor, married my great grandmother Sophia Jaggers 24 October 1875 at St Saviour Surrey, Trinity Church, Parish St Mary Newington, County of Surry. Walter's father's name is John Benjamin Cooper but that is all I know of him. Sophia lived in many houses in Newington with the children William, Walter Jaggers & Lizzie with Walter absent. I assume he was away on a ship at the time of the Census. Any information about any of these people would be greatly appreciated.
