trying to find grandfathers name

i was told that he died a year after my dad was born (1941), they lived in stoke on trent, i was told by another family member that he done a runner, so his death wouldnt be registered with my grans, sorry but i grew up in south africa and didnt know my grandparents or any of the history of them, i was just told they were not to close. |

There is no death for a John C. Evans in 1942, 1943 or 1944 who is anywhere near the right age. |

thanks for that kath,, please tell me something, when i do a search it always says oops cant find records, and the records (like my own birth certificate) dont really give much info, do i then have to buy a copy of whatever certificate i need |
