Has anyone got the parish records for births in Romford Essex? I have been searching for years (really!) to find the birth of William Pearce. First census (1851) he said he was born in London, another in Bentley Heath and now in the 1911 he says Romford Essex. I have been unable to find him in or around Bentley Heath and now have to look to Romford. There is a William Pearce of the right age in Romford in the 1841 census but thatisn't him (wrong father there)as 'my' William says on his marriage cert that his father was Charles so... has anyone got any records that show the birth of Wiliam Pearce (Pierce)abt 1832, father Charles. That is all I know!
Thank you.
Chris

THank you Shelly
I only have Williams marriage certificate which says that his father was Charles -bricklayer. No other mention of Charles but no other leads either. The only William I found in Romford in 1841 had a father Joseph and 'my William named one of his children Charles but not Joseph. Every generation since has had a Charles so I think it must be a 'family' name and it did not come from William's wife's side.
I have just discovered the Essex records office online and find they will do a search for a minimum of £21.00 per hour. I have already paid Herts records office to find him in Bentley Heath but no joy!! (in 1881 he says he was born in Bentley Heath Essex!) It's in Herts previously Middlesex!! Total confusion!

Hi Sile
Thanks for advice but I found the 1841 census for Romford online and searched every name and there was no one there that fitted, no Charles either! Although William was born in 1832, the family could have moved on by 1841 I once checked through all the Pearce's on Find my past for 1841 to try to tie up a William with a father Charles but none of them seemed to fit. The father Charles could have had any occupation but was just down as a bricklayer ion Williams marriage cert in 1855.
I think I am going to end up paying for an hour or two research by the Romford records office people but as William has already led me a wild goose chase in bentley Heath I don't hold out much hope!!

Hi Chris,

If you can wait I will check Romford for you, but it won't be for a while yet.

I'm sure my rellies moved to Great Bentley in Essex, or so I am told, but I can't lay my hands on my Parish map just now.

Can you put up a Census or two for him?

Kind regards
Amanda

Hi Sile and Amanda,
THank you both for your continuing efforts to help. I cannot find William on the 1841 census. I have him in 1851 boarding in Northampton. The other censuses are all in Northampton. His marriage was in Northampton and there are no clues in the witnesses because they were on his wife's side. Bentley Heath is near South Mims/Potters Bar. It is a tiny little backwater in spite of being almost under the M25. There were virtually no houses there in 1832 (not many there now!). I believed William must have been born there as he claims in 1881 otherwise how would he have even heard of such a tiny place. However, I abandoned that idea after thorough investigation and so now have to pursue the Romford lead!
Sile, you are not a pain. I am just grateful for any suggestions/ help. This has been my brickwall for so long.
