All you need to do on the registry site www.gro.gov.uk is to put in the information you have been given on the birth. Don't forget to click the box "Yes" when asked if you have the reference. No download is required.

when i went on to register office website i had dificulty ordering one online because of the year of birth.i had to download an url or something which i wasn't sure how to do.
