So its only the births that are now indexed fully. Guess thats a start

Matilda Sophia Leeds died the same qt June 1896 that she gave birth to her daughter Matilda May.

Wonder if it was related to the birth?

Ancestry have indexed births from 1916 to 2005. The marriages and deaths are still the old quarter by quarter look ups though.

Margaret

not quite true!!

They say "Marriages and Deaths ranges and Images 1837 to 1983" ........ but for later events, you just get the index. Same for births

I just checked using my mother's death in 1961 ....... up came the Index

This is not surprising as Ancestry are NOT transcribing the bmds themselves ......... they take it from freebmd

This is the reason that freebmd is always a little ahead of what ancestry is carrying.

You will need to check the 1911 census to see who Herbert James Leeds is living with to get his wifes first name

Barbara
I read yesterday that Ancestry have finally transcribed the later bmds so you do not need to search qt by qt. Correct me if Im wrong

Matilda's father, Herbert James Leeds is a widower in 1901 .

He married Matilda Sophia Neaves in 1896. She died that same year aged 19 years

He then appears to have married either Fanny Lurcock or
Frances Emma Streatfield in 1902
