Hi

My father-in-law was born Arthur Jones in 1944 in Birmingham and was subsequently adopted. His mothers name was Lilian May Jones (also known as Freedman) and on his adoption papers she is listed as a single woman aged 30 which puts her date of birth at around 1914. In pencil on the adoption papers it states that he is the second child - presumably the first child was also given up for adoption. He would like to trace his family history and especially any sibling/s that he may have. Can anyone help? We traced Lilian upto 1954 in Coventry Road, Hay Mills but then she vanishes.
Thank you
Helen

Does your father in law have a copy of his original birth cert?

Thanks to all for replying and for the leads.

Yes my father in law does have his original birth certificate now he has been through the courts to get his adoption unsealed. It says his name was Arthur Jones, Mothers name as above, Domestic Servant. Address seems to have been temporary as she gave a different address by the time of the adoption several months later. She registered the birth.

Nothing that can help us track down which family she belongs to though.

Thanks Helen
