It sounds to me it's quite likely that is your arthur in 1901. I see on his death he is known as just Arthur - maybe he was registered as just arthur? Have you checked his marriage cert? It would give his father's occupation. On the 1901 census his father is a general labourer. |

My grandfather Arthur Bryan Evans apparently does not seem to have existed before he joined the army in 1914, at the time he was living with his parents in Gorton Manchester. According to his army papers he was born in Crewe and his father was named James. |
