Hi Jill
On the marriage certificate for charles henrys second marrige it says charles henry davis otherwise upton, i have checked the deaths quarter by quarter, nothing under any of the known surnames.something just doesnt add up which is why i posted on here.

I'm a bit puzzled. Is Charles the same man? Could the Charles Henry Upton be someone totally different?

That aside - have you checked the full listings, quarter by quarter, for the death of Jane?

Is it possible that they divorced? Unlikely at that time as it was very expensive but possible ... so she may have remarried.

I am trying to find the death of my great grandmother jane davis (mn silvey) born in lambeth 1877
She married charles henry davis in lambeth in 1898 they had four children , from 1899 to 1908, i have a photograph of her c1914.In 1928 charles henry has remarried his sister in law(janes sister alice)the marriage cert says he is a widow...but also he had used the surname upton.
I cannot find death fo jane anywhere, i have looked under the name upton /davis/silvey, she had lived in penge for most of her married life and there is nothing.
Has anyone got any ideas.
