Trying to find out more info on family.

John Young married Janet Hackesley in 1897.
They lived in Hamilton Street, Manchester.

Children include:

Hannah, Elizabeth, Ernest, Janet and Herbert.

Hannah moved to the Isle of Man and maried Norman Singleton.

I don't kow if John and Janet had anymore children, or if the children I know of got married??!!

Herbert was my Grandfather. We know nothing of his family.

I would love to be able to tell my dad about his aunts, uncles and cousins, but family tracing is so hard for an amateur!!
I recently took a trip from Wales to Manchester to visit the records office, but it was closed for refurbishment!!!!!!!

Any help would be gratefully appreciated!!!

I have had 2 possible birth years for Janet suggested to me. The first being 1913, and the other 1909. Uh oh!
Also birthyear for Ernest 1912 and married in 1921.
How accurate do you think my old info could be?

It probably depends where you got the other info from. Peoples memories can play tricks it's the certificates which are the most reliable. Happy hunting. ps. the lancashirebmd is great for certificates.

Vivienne, I see that the 1901 census shows the family at 244 Hamilton Street. John is recorded as a Dyers Labourer....so yes....Yarn Printer?!

You have introduced me to 2 more children I didn't know existed......John and Samuel! Thankyou!!!

Herbert, my grandfather was born on 1916 and his brother Ernest 1912.
My other info shows janet being bornin 1913....I need to re-investigate this....your info suggests she was born in1909??

You have also provided me with an address I didn't know of. Although I knew of an address at Hamilton Street, (now a gasworks!) and Barwick Street, was not aware of Crook Street, therefore another avenue for me to explore!!

Thankyou all once again. I will be ordering John and Janets marriage certificate today.
