Find Ancestors

Sorry for the late reply. I live in Spain but at the moment have returned to England for a few days. Thank you very much for all your replies. I have searched and searched but cannot find my grandfather. His name was George Jones - I now know he was born in 1881 - - died in 1963. He married Alice Foden in 1911. He had 2 brothers (Sam and James) and 2 sisters (Lil and Amy). His father was called James (bricklayers labourer) but I do not know the name of his mother or where any of them were born. I have searched the censuses but none of them appear anywhere or is it just me. I have paid and retrieved numerous meaningless records. Any help or advice would be appreciated. Many thanks. Sue

Where did he marry Alice and when/where was their first child born?

Why do you say you have just found out he was born in 1881? Was that from the marriage cert? What was his place of residence on the cert? Who were the witnesses?

Liver - BTW, my query wasnt for you (you seemed to think it was) though I had in fact posted the marriage details with both people on posting 5 :(- it was just a way of lifting the thread up as there had been no response from the OP. Thank you for all your replies. I am not sure where George Jones was born although he always used to say that he lived near Wales but not in Wales. James Jones (his father) was a bricklayers labourer.
Alice and George married in Smethwick and lived at 119 Winston Street. Their first child was Doris Jones (spinster) and she was also born in Smethwick. Their other children were Hilda Jones (married George Jackson - 2 children - Susan and Sheila), (another George Jones who married Thelma - no children), Alice Jones (spinster) and James Jones who married Elsie Jones (his cousin) - they had 2 children (Margaret and Robert). I am not sure who the witnesses were at the wedding of George Jones and Alice Foden. My sister has the marriage certificate but she said this information isn' t on it. Thanks again. Much appreciated.
