My granddad's name was Thomas Jones, b1884 ,he was married to Carnation Lovell.b1886 They lived in Cardiff Wales. They had I believe 3 sons Thomas b 1914, John and Arthur b1917 .Carnation died in 1919 age appx 33yrs leaving Arthur a young child about 1yr 7mths old. Thomas we believe remarried and had another son called Frank. We believe his wife was called Grace. I know Thomas jr had a daughter called Pat and maybe 2 sons, one called Peter. Pat looked very much like my sister Valerie. We use to go and see them when we went to Wales. Arthur was fostered out as he was so young when his mum died. We believe his foster mum was called Mrs Taylor, she remarried and her second name then was Lowe. Can anyone help us find my dads family. He had a foster sister called Rose, we believe her husband was Aubrey, she also had a son called Veron and a daughter called Alma. We have been trying for a long time to find my dads family. I know that Frank came down to see us, he was on a break from his guard duties on the train, Do these names ring bells with you? Carnation is an unusual name, she came from the Newcastle area of Bridgend in Wales. My dad came from Cardiff, he was Arthur Jones. We have just been given information that maybe there was a son or step son called Joe. I have now received my nans birth and death certificates. My nan lived at 10 Milton Street Cardiff, her sister a Mrs S McCarthy lived at 30 Milton Street Cardiff. It was at her sister's home that my dad was born and that my nan died. My granddad was in the RAF when she died, he was an air mechanic 91807. Her mothers maiden name was Leach, her name was Ellen and her husband was Henry(my great granddad). I have now found that my nan married a Joseph Cross in 1902. I beleive there was a son from this marriage maybe Joe Cross. Later she remarried using a shorten version of her name, she remarried under the name Nation Lovell to Thomas Jones in 1914. Can anyone help me please to find out if I am correct. |

Chris, you can look up births, deaths and marriages on freebmd.org and then use the ref to buy the certificates for £7 from GRO online. |

Please read the Absolute Basics thread Chris, it will give you an overview, (including the official GRO site - rather than you spending £20 a cert.) |
