I am Researching the lives of Patrick & Christopher McEvoy, who were born in Aldbourne, Wilts in 1912 & 1915, they both were killed in action in WWII in 1941 & 1944. From around 1936 to 1939 they lived at the family house of their aunt, Mary McEvoy (nee Edwards 1870-1941) in Freshford, Somerset. In 1938 Patrick wrote a beautiful book of their travels around Wiltshire and Christopher illustrated it.

Their father was Charles A McEvoy (1879-1927), a playwrite who established the Aldbourne village Theatre, their mother was Marjorie Notley also known as Gwen.

Their Uncle Ambrose McEvoy(1879-1927) was a well known painter who was spotted by Whistler at an early age and attended the Slade School. I believe he may of had a son called Micheal and a daughter.

It would be great to find any more information about them or their family, even relatives or decendants who may have family tales about Patrick and Christopher. Freshford in Somerset seems to have been a place the wider family knew well, indeed the lads names are on the war memorial in the village. They spent the earlier part of their lives in Aldbourne, Wilts.

Should anyone have any information or any ideads for further research please let me know.

Thanks very much

Ashley Bishop
