i can find no info on myggrandad mark watson .i know he married jane calvert of batley in1902 they had my grandma laura in 1904 any help appreciated thanks deb

His marriage cert. will give his age, so you can work out a date of birth. It will also give his fathers name and occupation which will help find him in the census records. It will also give you his occupation and witnesses could be siblings.
So you need to start by buying the cert. otherwise findings will be just speculation.

Tolan Anthony Dewsbury 9b 1162
Watson Mark Dewsbury 9b 1162

At this time Dewsbury was the registration district for Batley.

births before will not show mothers maiden name so there could be others!

This looks like your grandma in 1911 census:-

HOUSEHOLD WATSON LAURA F 1905 6 Dewsbury Yorkshire West Riding

You have to pay to view but it's a good place to start. It will give you info on dates and places of birth of all the occupants of the house.

there's this Mark with another household member named Jane:-

HOUSEHOLD WATSON MARK M 1883 28 Dewsbury Yorkshire West Riding

so this looks like him which makes dob 1883!

and this looks like Jane:-
HOUSEHOLD WATSON JANE F 1886 25 Dewsbury Yorkshire West Riding

I would have a look at the 1911 census first to check place of birth:- http://www.1911census.co.uk/

thanks i have been barking up the wrong tree this does sound like the mark watson i am looking for it looks like i have been following another mark watson

I'd check out the 1911 census first Debbie. It does have Laura in the same household as Mark and Jane so a good place to start.
The marriage cert. is also a must if you want to go back with any certainty.
