Trying to find out more info on family.
I have re-posted my last thread below. I have been trying so hard to find living relatives, working to current day. I have had a lot of help, but seem to have come to a bit of a dead end. I have found Hannahs husbands relatives, but they have no info on Hannahs family to share. How would I trace her dads parents, (John Young)? I have put all of my work into working to current day I now need to refocus and re-learn how to trace back. Any help appreciated!
John Young married Janet Hackesley in 1897. They lived in Hamilton Street, Manchester.
Children include:
Hannah, Elizabeth, Ernest, Janet and Herbert.
Hannah moved to the Isle of Man and maried Norman Singleton.
I don't kow if John and Janet had anymore children, or if the children I know of got married??!!
Herbert was my Grandfather. We know nothing of his family.
I would love to be able to tell my dad about his aunts, uncles and cousins, but family tracing is so hard for an amateur!! I recently took a trip from Wales to Manchester to visit the records office, but it was closed for refurbishment!!!!!!!
Any help would be gratefully appreciated!!!

Oh Gosh Lianne poor thing ariving at a record office which is closed!
I f I understand correctly you want to go back from John who Married Janet in 1897..........you need to send for their marriage cert which will give you the name of his father, do you know Johns birth year?

No, I don't know his birth year. Info I have given in pretty much all I have, apart from John and Janets childrens birthyears.
My aim is to find living relatives, but having now joy working to current day, so thought I would see how working back worked out.

Hi June
I came across this on the 1901 census I believe. I since traced some more siblings, but know more do exist but not sure how to find them.
Is there anything more I can do with the info you added?

Hi June
I thought it may help me find out how to trace back now to their parents. I knew it would show in their surname summary but didn't realise they are all on a general board also. Sorry! I have deleted other one. Was just hoping someone searching Hakesly and nott young may come across it.......Any advice on how to post info I have but in the search for Janets family also?

Hi Rootgatherer
John was the father born approx 1878. He and Janet certainly had oneson John, but not sure if he passed away and they had another son later on they also named John.......

Lianne, you will not find Herbert on any census that is available to view now..........because he was born in 1916 he cannot be on the 1911 census.
If as you say you want to go back, send for the 1897 marriage and be sure you are on the right track. There are a couple of possibilities for John Young born 1878 Manchester on the 1881 census but you need to know who his father is, to have something to go on.

Yes Ann, I will obtain marriage cert.
Just a general question if you don't mind......
When my father was born in 1948, his fathers brother came to visit. It was a very brief visit as the family had cut all ties.
He told my grandfather he was off to the usa to make movies. It is believed his name was Robert Alan Young or Alan Robert Young. Neither of these names have come up as John or Janets son. My assumption is that he could've been Ernest A Young......maybe the A was Alan?!
How would I go about finding if he did emigrate to the USA......do you think it would be too much hard work?
