Trying to find info on birth/family of Evelyn PARKER who married George David RUDD 18/12/1920 at Leicester, then (using surname RUDD) Alfred George EDMONDSON 29/3/1958 also at Leicester.

Evelyn's age was given as 27 in 1920 and 61 in 1958, which doesn't help. Her father, Thomas, was a coal miner. There are a couple of candidates in the 1901 census, but I'm hoping that someone out there can claim her and give me more definite information.

Sorry Maurice, on 1901 census Frank is definitely not a coal miner. He is not a coal miner on the 1891 census either.

Found him there just couldn't locate the marriage.
Can't find an Evelyn with a father called Thomas in Leicester so she must have been born somewhere else..............but then why would she marry in Leicester...........unless of course she had no surviving family. I wonder if Evelyn had been married before and Parker wasn't her birth name?

If they didn't marry until 1920 there would have been a big age difference between George and Evelyn. Think something wrong somewhere, or we are both 'missing it'. Can't now find George David Rudd in 1901.

Found a tree on Ancestry site with Alfred George Edmondson (born 1890 in Newbiggin, Westmoreland) married to Evelyn Parker (born 1897 in Newhall, Derbyshire). Alfred has a second wife Elizabeth Richardson (born in 1889 in Westmoreland). They had a son Maurice born 1912, died 2001.
Don't understand how Evelyn Parker, the first wife, could have married Alfred in 1958 unless ancestry tree totally wrong, or I am misunderstanding it.

Was going to give up on this for a while BUT have now found this marriage -

looks like the Newhall, Derbyshire is correct then.

Had another look at the Ancestry tree and just think first wife is 'in the wrong place'. Unfortunately no dates given for marriages.

Still can't find the Evelyn Parker - Rudd marriage.

Alfred Edmondson was a busy bloke wasn't he!

The facts I have are:

Alfred George EDMONDSON (my grandfather) b. 1890 Newbiggin, Westmorland, married Elizabeth RICHARDSON (grandmother) in Mar Qtr 1910. Elizabeth died in Mar Qtr 1922.

Alfred (32, widower) then married a Mary WILSON (36, spinster) in March 1923. Both were living in Dufton, Westmorland. Don't know when Margaret died, except that it was after 1953 and I think they were living in Leicestershire then. I have a vague memory of visiting them once.

On 29 March 1958, in Leicester, Alfred married Evelyn RUDD, (according to certificate), widow, father listed as Thomas PARKER, coal miner, deceased. Alfred's age given as 67, Evelyn as 61. Evelyn's profession given as shoe storeroom assistant.

On 18 December 1920, Evelyn PARKER (spinster) married George David RUDD (widower) in Leceister. Evelyn's age is given as 27, George's as 50. George's profession given as shoe finisher, Evelyn's as shoe storeroom/stockroom worker. George's father David RUDD, shoe machine operator, deceased. Evelyn's father Thomas PARKER, coal miner.

It would be logical to assume that the Evelyn PARKER who married George RUDD is the same person who married my grandfather Alfred EDMONDSON.

I have been assured that by someone who has done extensive research into the PARKER family of Newhall, Derbyshire, that the Evelyn who married my grandfather and George RUDD was not part of that family. I am beginning to think that she was born in Yorkshire. I would appreciate any thoughts on that.
