Is There an easy way to discover when James Taylor

I wonder is there an easy way to discover which year a person died please??? James Taylor married Catherine (given name on marriage Wrigley (aka Twiggley and Quigley her parents were Quigley, why these variations I do not know). In 1891 in the Chesterfield district of Derbyshire. By 1916 Catherine was a widow as she married John Bown in that year and the certificate states widow. I have attempted to discover when James Taylor died but it is such a common name that there are many between 1901 and 1916. I have also JUST discovered that they had a son called Oliver Taylor born c1902, as I have been researching a different branch until now the thought of children had not occurred to me (silly)!! So I have yet to discover if there were more. Oliver would have been my father in law John Bown (jr) half brother but as he never told anyone about him we are assuming he did not know he had a half brother??? Catherine Quigley (Wrigley, Twiggley) was the daughter of John Quigley and Martha Twigg from Matlock. They have caused me problems for years due to the variations in surname on records. Can anyone suggest shorter routes to success please.

Have you checked the 1911 census for other children?.

It will also show if James Taylor is still alive to narrow down your deaths search

Thank you, yes. Due to all you helpful people I learned where to find the 1911 census. This is how I discovered that Oliver Taylor existed, unfortunately this is due to the fact that on the night of the census he was staying with his grandparents John and Martha Quigley whose household I was viewing when I noticed Oliver taylor grandson among the inhabitants. As their daughter Catherine was married to James Taylor I made the assumption he is theirs. the census does not bring up my Catherine Taylor in Derbyshire.
Thank you for your replies

Jacqueline!!! thank you so much. I had missed that one, I bet you are right. I will send for the certificate I am so confident. This narrows my James Taylor death search down a bit to 1911 - 1916---- assuming he is the father. I took another look at Free BMD after your reply and there now looks like only 2 James Taylor deaths for me to concentrate on.
