Hi Tracey,
I would suggest that your grandfather was Harbour Master at GIRVAN (South Ayrshire) not Gurvin. If you search Scotland People site for his b.m.d. I'm sure you will turn up a wealth of detail as it is easy to search. Good luck.

Donald Anderson is a fairly common name for Scotland so you will need more info. Have you got his marriage cert to Martha? If so that will give you information on his birth date. I'm not familiar with Scottish certs but I think they have a lot more info than England/Wales ones.

Also have you tried googling his name + harbour master + the name of the harbour if you know it. It's amazing what comes up sometimes.

Ozi.
