Looking for our relative Brian Turner. He was in an orphanage in Herne Bay, Kent and went into hospital about the age of 5 or 8 with pneumonia or kidney condition. Next of kin on birth certificate - Maud Turner, 135 Ramsgate Road, Margate, Kent. We don't have the birth certificate or know what year he was born, my grandmother glanced at it when she was nursing.

Let's pick this thread.

He was 5 or 8 when he went into hospital - which was when? That is, about when was he born? Actually, you have his birth cert, so when was he born?

Birth certs don't have next of kin, but do have parents' names, or at least mothers' names. Was Maud Turner his mother? No father named?

Okay, Stephanie - you've added a bit of info about the birth certificate -- where the info came from. (Birth certs still really do not have "next of kin", they have parents.)

But still you must have some idea of when this was! The 1930s, 40s, 50s, ... 90s ... ?

The kinds of searches that can be done to help you out depend a lot on the time frame.

How do you know he is a relative? Are you related to Maud Turner? I'm sorry, but it just kind of doesn't make sense at this point ...
