I am trying to find information on a Frederick Thomas Wright, date of birth etc unknown. Could have been born in London any time between 1895 and 1910. All I know about him is that in 1933 he had a son called Thomas Frederick Wright and in 1934 had a daughter called Kathleen Stella Wright. Both born in Islington (Thomas at Goodinge Road and Kathleen at Hornsey Road). Both these children were also registered with the surname of INGRAM. Mother was Mabel Rosetta Ingram (nee Flegg/Rudd). Mabel was married to a Frank Ingram at the time of both births.

Frederick's occupation has been given as both a Journeyman Butcher and a General Labourer (from children's birth certificates).

Any information anyone may have would be very very helpful in trying to trace my mother-in-law's heritage!

Bit of a tricky one. Frederick Thomas Wright seems to have been a pretty common name, and without being sure of the area of his birth, it could be one of several.

Did he go on to marry Mabel Ingram? If so, marriage cert might help for his father's name and occupation.

Hi,

It sounds like they weren't married then......... possibly couldn't afford a divorce. So the children would be registered under both surnames with the same volume and page number.

Any ideas on when he died??? Or when Mabel died? I'm thinking that they could have been of a similar age, so if you know Mabels details it may help to narrow the search.

This must be Mabel's birth.

Flegg Mabel Rosetta Ipswich 4a 1025

It looks as though her mother Lily went on to marry Percy Rudd in 1903 and Mabel took his name.

Frank J Ingram married Mabel R Rudd in Fulham in Q3 1921 but had a look for deaths and can't find any attributable to these names pre or post 1983.

Had a look for Mabel Flegg to be on the safe side but the only one that comes up is Mabel E Flegg and marriage in 1910 but not to an Ingram or Wright (Kings actually).

Looks like she started as Flegg and ended up as Rudd.

Yes, Mabel was born in 1902 to Lilly Flegg. Lilly subsequently married Mabel's father Percy Rudd in 1903. Mabel used both surnames on various documents which has been rather confusing! Mabel married Frank Ingram in 1921 (with 4 or 5 children); she then had 2 children with Frederick Thomas Wright (whilst still married to Frank Ingram; one of which was I believe brought up by Frank although not officially adopted by him - not sure on this). Mabel and Frank divorced and she later remarried, having 2 more children.

As Sue C says, Frederick Wright is a fairly common name so it's taking a lot of time trying to find additional information. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
