HI The baptism and other records are at the Gwent recors office and at the National libary for Wales.
If you look at Genukl and Monmouthshire parishs there are a lot of BMDs listed .
A lot of the lewis moved away from the Pontypool area into the farming areas of Monmouthshire.

I have Lewis all over the place and trying to sort out who is who is fustrasting

Hi,
I am trying to find my 5x great grandfather Thomas Lewis. His children were all born in Mynyddislwyn, Monmouthshire between 1765 and 1780 including my 4x great grandfather Lewis Lewis in 1779.
I am trying to find Thomas's birth which would be around c.1740-in Monmouthshire. I am also trying to find his wife-we have no idea of her name but they would have been married between 1760 and 1765-probably also in Mynyddislwyn.
Thomas had two daughters; Margaret and Mary so this could be a clue as to his wife?

Thank you to all who respond,
many regards,
Michael Lewis
