Clarification of Evie's post:
The collectionscanada site lets you view the actual image for 1851/2, 1891, 1901, 1906, 1911. However, except for 1891, they're not indexed by individuals names, but by census location - so if you wanted Toronto, Ward 4, page 7 - no worries. However, to determine what you wanted, you'ld do the search on Margaret's AG URL, which gives this census location info in the page header (and also lets you click on a link that gets you the image). However, AG only shows the individual's 1901 schedule, not the buildings schedule, so you'ld do this in 1901 if you wanted their address or to know how many barns and silos, etc., they had.

You can search the 1881, 1891 census by name at collectionscanada and view the image.

There are some ON transcriptions without images at:
http://ontariocensus.rootsweb.ancestry.com/

Although technically not a part of Canada until 1949, Newfoundland has census transcriptions online, at least partially, for 1675-1945 at:
http://ngb.chebucto.org/census.shtml

Ancestry has the 1871, and it's free:

http://www.ancestry.ca/search/rectype/census/canada/default.aspx

but - somebody probably said this already - it's only heads of household and people in households with different surnames.

What Ancestry has:

1851 Census of Canada East, Canada West, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia
1891 Census of Canada
1901 Census of Canada
1906 Canada Census of Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta
1911 Census of Canada
1916 Canada Census of Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta
Ontario, Canada Census Index, 1871 - Free Index

The collectionscanada site offered earlier in the thread isn't going to actually give access to individuals' census data, keep in mind. I believe it directs you to what is on which microfilm. ;)
