I can't reproduce your results in 1841 -- there are Walkers in Kirkby This and Kirkby That in Yorkshire, but no household composition as you describe it.

Do you have them in a census?

Did they have no other children after Isabella - so that a birth certificate would yield the mother's name?

Ah. This Kirkby. It really can help to be clearer.

ISABELLA WALKER
Christening: 27 AUG 1837 Kirkby Stephen, Westmorland, England
Father: ROBERT WALKER
Mother: JANE
Batch No.: C067071

That batch has a few Walker children around the same time with parents Robert and Jane -- would this be another daughter?

MARGARET WALKER
Christening: 12 AUG 1840 Kirkby Stephen, Westmorland, England
Death: 12 SEP 1841
Father: ROBERT WALKER
Mother: JANE
Batch No.: C067071

She died young, but her birth may have been registered.

1841?

Name: Isabella Walker
Age: 4
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1837
Gender: Female
Where born: Westmorland, England

Civil Parish: Kirkby Lonsdale
Registration district: Kendal

Isabella Walker 4
John Walmtine 50
John Furness 15
Richard Winstanley 30
William Astin 20
John Dawson 35
George Fisher 20
Joseph Warburton 25
John Pemberton 20
Mary Barrett 75

The birth of a Margaret Walker was registered in Kendal district in June quarter 1841. A year out ... unless the birth was registered when the death was ...

Aha - twins?

MARY JANE WALKER
Christening: 12 AUG 1840 Kirkby Stephen, Westmorland, England
Father: ROBERT WALKER
Mother: JANE
Batch No.: C067071

A Mary Walker was registered in September quarter 1840 ...

Several people have submitted a marriage of Robert Walker and Jane Rowlandson, Shap, Westmoreland, 1836, to the IGI.

Heeeeere we go. 1841:

Robert Walker 48 --- Inn Keeper
Jane Walker 39
Hannah Walker 12
John Walker 6
Mary Walker 8 Mo
Margaret Walker 8 Mo

in Kirkby Stephen. Isabella was away because her mother had infant twins to care for?

So I've found everything you already had and could have served up on a platter to help anyone trying to help ...

Hmm. That 1841 household for Isabella made no sense at all. Let's have a closer look.

This is her real household:

William Willan 70 - Publican
Susan Willan 60
Edward Willan 20
Susannah Willan 20
Mary Willan 9

The ones Ancestry lists her with are all inn guests, it would seem.

I wonder what the chance is that the innkeepers are her maternal grandparents??

If it was Jane Rowlandson

.................. I wonder if there is a connection with my OH's family .... they also came from the Kendal area of Westmorland, and married Rowlandsons over the years.

that would be just too funny

but I haven't traced the Rowlandson family too well yet.

Waaaah!

Cousins for you, cousins for everybody and their cousins, never no cousins for me!!

I'll have to expect my reward in heaven, I suppose. And of course that will happen when its counterpart freezes over. ;)

The Willans with whom Isabella is staying:

EDWARD WILLAN
Christening: 09 SEP 1832 Kirkby Lonsdale, Westmorland, England
Father: WILLIAM WILLAN
Mother: SUSANNA
Batch No.: C055441

Which doesn't exactly make him 20 in 1841, but maybe he was christened late.

Kirkby Lonsdale marriages are here: M055441
but there are no Walker or Willan marriages.

Aha!

1851

Name: Robert Walker
Age: 58
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1793
Relation: Head
Spouse's name: Jane
>>> Where born: Shap, Westmorland, England

Name: Jane Walker
Age: 48
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1803
Relation: Wife
Spouse's name: Robert
Where born: Soulby, Westmorland, England

Civil Parish: Kirkby Stephen
Town: Kirkby Stephen
County/Island: Westmorland

Robert Walker 58 - Innkeeper
Jane Walker 48
John Walker 16
Hannah Walker 22
Isabella Walker 13
Mary Buckle 14

Some evidence to support the marriage in Shap?

But drat. The IGI only has, for Soulby:

C044311 1813-1875 christenings
M044311 1863-1872 marriages

so we can't look for Jane's birth.

This mixed bag batch: P002301
has numerous Robert Walkers here and there in the area.
One record even has his marriage ... to Mrs. Jane Walker. ;)
(Of course she wasn't Mrs. Jane Walker ... unless she had married Jane Walker ...)

Of course she was Mrs Jane Walker

that's a very valid use ...... although it did use to be used only for a widow.

While her husband was alive she was referred to as Mrs xxxxx Walker. As soon as he died, she became Mrs Jane Walker

These days ............. that rule is ignored

I often get letters addressed to Mrs Sylvia xxxxxx
