I would be grateful for any help in finding out about my great-grandparents. My grandfather Ernest Evans Lewis was born in December 1908 in the district of Bedwelty, county of Monmouth. His mother is named as Margaret Lewis formerly Evans and father is John Lewis. Apparently she died aged about 21 during or just after childbirth. I have used a free site to help with putting the pieces together, but have had no luck. I cannot find a death record for her or for a marriage between John Lewis and Margaret Evans. I do not even know where they were married. I am presuming they were married after at least 1903 if she was 21 when she died. |

Using the MMN as part of the child's name was often an indicator of a pre-marital birth...........(my brother in law was an example of the process) |

Thanks for you help Viv. It seems I am not going to get very far with this. I guess that's the trouble when relying on hearsay. |

My grandmother was called Glenys Rosser Simon. I am not sure where they were married but their eldest son was born in September 1938. |

Ernest died about 1941/42. I think he went back to Wales to die. If you can find out when/where he died and I get the death certificate it might give me more clues, say if a relative registered the death. |
