You haven't got their marriage certificate, we assume?

Do you know the actual date of marriage? Less time-consuming to find it, with that.

The marriage certificate would tell you her age and father's name, which could lead you to finding siblings of hers.

Found the marriage registration, first quarter 1966. Will send you the details by private message.

... Actually, the info is already here, so adding the reg details won't make any difference.

jan-feb-mar quarter 1966
Alice Ward
spouse: Martin
district: Wolverhampton
volume: 9b
page: 2577

You order the certificate here:

When you say her children were all adopted, that is, they were her children and they were adopted by others?

These were not children of Michael Martin? So would you know what surname(s) they were registered under?

Is it her children you're looking for? or (I expect) you are wanting to find out what happened to her.

Got a PM from Gillian, and it won't be betraying confidences to say: Maria and Richard were born before the Ward-Martin marriage, children of Alice Ward. If I've got that straight. Maria is looking for Richard, and Alice.

If Maria is comfortable with it, Gillian, you could add her date and place of birth to the thread here and we could look for other children with an unmarried mother Ward in the same place around the same time. Or you can send that to me privately and I'll have a look.

You have the marriage certificate, so it gives Alice's age at marriage. Have you found her birth? If you had her birth certificate, you (or someone with Ancestry access) could search after 1984 for her death using her given name and date of birth. A woman's death can sometimes be found with given name and date of birth, without even knowing what her surname was at her death. If there is one that seems likely, a marriage can then be searched for, to that surname.

Since she was a lot older than her husband when she married in 1966, she must have been born in the 20s-ish? Chances might be that she has died, then, unfortunately.

It gives her father's name too, and that might find her parents' marriage. If you could find her birth, it would give her mother's surname, and it might be possible to find siblings using that info.

By casting the net wide, you have a better chance of finding living family who might have info for you!

Going from what we have so far, there were 11 Alice Ward-s born in Staffordshire 1918-1928, for example. So if you have her age when she married in 1966 - and if you think she was originally from the same area as where she married - we might be able to narrow that down.

Hi im Gillians friend, maria, who is searching for Alice and Richard Martin and any other siblings. I was born Maria Teresa Martin on the 26/6/71 in Wolverhamton. Richard Matthew Martin was born 26/3/67 also in Wolverhamton. I believe she was still married to Michael Martin when she had both myself and Richard, although he was not my father and is not down on Richards birth certificate either. I know for sure that there were other children before Richard. We have found out Alice's birth details, she was born in 1930 in Co. letrim Ireland and came to England we think in the 1950's.Her parents were Alice and Peter Ward and i also know her siblings names (they also came to England). On her marriage certificate it says she is 26, but after lots of checking we discovered she was actually 36. ( her father Peter is on the marriage certificate.) I have a huge gap between 1950( when she arrived in England) until 1966 when she married and do not know what became of her after my adoption. Thanks for your help.

Hello Maria - I don't know whether you know the details of the other siblings, but there are 4 Ward births with mother Ward in Wolverhampton in the 1950s. I'll send you the details.

One of them may be in a tree here at GR.
