thanks christine . the one you found in 1901 cens is 100% correct but is there anyway of getting his birth cert as not knowing which arthur he is hope you understand what i mean .

I believe that for a £3 extra fee, the GRO will look at the certificate for you to confirm extra details.

Looking at the census info, the one called John George was a Baker and he married Margaret Whitaker. So you want to ask for the cert of the one whose mother wasn't Margaret.

The one named John who may have been the father of Arthur (with Grandfather).

The other Arthur was the one who moved to York and married Louisa.
