We are hoping someone may be able to tell us about my friends grandmother, she never knew her but we do know that at the time of her death she was living at 17 Camden Rd Ellesmore Port Chester and that was in 1953. She was 62 when she died her name was Gertrude Louisa Wright and she was married to John. We also know that at that time she had a brother in law living at 14 Moorland Road Overpool Ellesmoor Port.. If anyone has any knowledge of Gertrude or her family we would liove to here from you so please do get in touch

Wht year did she die? as you appear to know her age at death?

Have you got her death cert.
The birth cert of the parent whose mother she was will give the mothers maiden name then you can look for the marriage of Gertrude and her birth then follow the family back throught the census.

Thanks for replying people sorry for delay in response but have son in hospital - we have the death cert and marriage she was as far as we can tell given up at just a few weeks old by her father when his wife died, he obviously felt he couldn't cope - she was never adopted but appears bought up by a distant aunt. We have her with this family on census. however since doing the tree we have been in contact with the grand daughter of Gertrudes father via a sibling yes she had four older siblings and a younger from a later marriage. This granddaughter says the family were never told anything about Gertrude so it came as a surprise to find she existed.
She died in 1953 and from the signature on the death cert i would think it Ralph Wright who was present at death her brother in law - my friends father has since died and although he did get to know of his mother it was while she was dying and he never got to see her. My friend was interested in finding out a bit more about gertrude and her family and to know whether she had more children after she married. My friends father was born out of wedlock and given up to someone else to raise but never officially adopted .
