IF THE NAME YOU ARE LOOKING FOR APPEARS IN HEADING THEN WE IMMEDIATELY KNOW IF IT IS OF INTEREST. SAVES GOING INTO MESSAGES OF NO CONCERN. |

Julie, I agree with William. It is not that one only wishes to read about the names in our own family but TO BE SURE OF NOT MISSING a relevant post among the many that come to this site every day. I will help with any name where I can and thank those who have helped me. Tina |

I have a bit of a problem with people putting their own names as the heading when their own name is clear as the poster |

I think people will help regardless of the name being the heading. |

Perhaps the point is being missed. If looking for information on a specific family name putting it in the header will ensure anyone who can help will not miss seeing your post. I would love to see the name Hobkirk in a header but it seems as rare as hens teeth. |

I think I understand what you mean Tina but if you are looking for a specific surname then surely its best to put it on the Surname Information. |

BUT....Like i have said quite a few times......If people a doing this through THEIR surname summery maybe they DON'T realise that everyone else can see their request too. |

Putting the name in the heading makes no difference to those trying to help. |

I agree with Ricochet that the most useful are the ones which have a clue of what is being sought in the title or the 1st few words of the post which can be seen on the board. If someone is looking for census info it saves me opening the post as I do not have access to census info. |

Phew! Didn't think that would be so controversial. I woild be only too willing to help anyone where I can but I have limited means for doing so And I don/t live at my computer. A sought after name in the header catches the attention & means I do not need to read the threads for every message that appears if I know of no connection. |
