Can anyone help? My great grandmother was Hannah Murphy born about 1858 in I think, Carhisveen, Ireland. She had a half brother called Bartholemew which was also her father's name. I managed to trace the christening of her half brother in about 1860 at Boherbue. Hannah married John Bilton Duncan (a soldier with the South Staffordshire Regiment) in about 1880-83 I think in Ireland as I can find no record in the UK. Any help will be much appreciated.

This looks like her John was in the army on both census and children born in staffordshire.
John was born in Scotland Aberdeanshire

Civil registration of BMDs only began in 1864 (well, non-RC marrs began 1845), so you'll be needing parish registers to go back before then.

Thanks very much for your help. Much appreciated. I still cannot find Hannah Murphys birth or marriage - any tips on where to look. I'm rather new at tracing relatives so please bear with me. (I'm just about coping with the newlaptop my grandchildren bought for me - it's great fun though) hooray just noticed Hannahs marriage - you're a star! Many thanks
