CANCER charity Tenovus has moved to new offices at Gleider House in Cardiff.

The charity has taken 6,000 sq ft on a new 10-year lease following a move from its offices at The Parade, also in the capital.

As the charity is expanding, the decision to move was taken to create much needed space and bring together staff currently based at two different sites.

Alison Upton, Tenovus business development manager, said: “The move into new premises has been keenly anticipated by the team and we are eager to get settled into these larger offices and to continue our commitment to cancer research and patient support.

“This move comes at a time when we are looking to drive our services in Wales forward and develop new initiatives in research and support for cancer patients.

“Tenovus have highlighted the need for cancer treatments and services to be delivered in local communities and one of our initiatives will be working to fund mobile units and local support centres to address this need.”

Tenovus was created in 1943 and has a history of providing cancer services and funding research, including the development of tamoxifen as the world’s most successful breast cancer drug. The organisation will maintain commitment to its current programme of research, costing over £4.2m until 2012.

Gary Carver of joint agents DTZ, acting for landlords Mapeley, said: “My clients are delighted to welcome Tenovus to Gleider House which has been refurbished to provide high-quality offices at a competitive rent.”

Gleider House forms part of the Inland Revenue complex at Llanishen and is in the process of being refurbished to attract occupiers. There is now approximately 45,000 sq ft remaining in Gleider House.

Huw Thomas of King Sturge, along with DTZ and Cooke & Arkwright, are joint agents on behalf of Mapeley.

Trying to find info on my great grandfathers brother who was a founder member of Tenovus cancer charity - believe he was Huw Thomas.
Looking to then also find more ancestors of my Thomas family line
