Hi,

I have been trying , without sucess to find when my Great Grandmother Edith Elizabeth Edwards ( nee Burton) died. She was born in 1881 in Rochester and was last heard of living in the Kings Cross area of London (but this was before WW2). Her husband married his long term common law wife in 1941stating he was a widower but I have trawled through the records and Can't find anything . Can you help?

Susan, yes that's the right person in 1901.

She married John Joseph Edwards in 1910 ( after she had approx. 3 children by him) . A long story but we suspect that Edith was wife no 2.

We know that she was alive after 1918 because my Gran went to see her as a child and my Gran was old enough to remember the event ( Gran was born in 1914).

Karen
Where was Edith living when she was visited by your Grandmother .

Susan,

That's the marriage I found.

She was last heard of in the Kings Cross area of London living in a run down flat.

I don't have a lot to go on as my Gran never saw her again after that visit ( there was a lot of unpleasantness in the family at the time) and completely lost contact with her mother and siblings.
