Rosemary Report 9 May 2010 22:17

Hi everyone,

Sadly today we found out our Mary Teresa died 3 years ago, she has been living in Belfast most of her life. She married twice and had five or six children. Mary's neighbour is going to contact her family and give them our address & telephone number.
A sad end to our search but at least we know where she is.
I would like to thankyou all very much for your kindness and help, especially Sheila, Whirley, Mary, Janey, Jan & Patricia to name but a few.

Our best wishes & thanks to you all
Michael & Rosemary x

We are waiting for the Grimes marriage certificate, thought it would have arrived today. I will PM you when it arrives.
Thanks a lot Mary

Hi, I am still searching!!!
Has any kind person got one spare credit please for 192.com to view an address?
It is for a Mary T Johnson in Birmingham, this person seems to be on the electoral role up to 2009 from what I can see. I am curious to see who else is in the household at that address as well.

Many thanks Rosemary

Hi Jan,
Thanks for your suggestion but yes I have put it out on the Birmingham Forum as suggested by someone else.
The Andrews/Johnson marriage a definite no. We got the marriage certificate and copy of records but they weren't the right people.
Although Mary was in Shenley Fields, she wasn't sent out as a child migrant as we found out recently from my hubbies SW that she was working in Birmingham in 1963 when she was 18, and that's the last anyone knows of her whereabouts.
Thanks ever so much & everything xd we find her soon. I just can't let it go!!
Many thanks Rosemary

Hi Rosemary.

Your thread caught my eye as I have a look at all thngs Brummie! Just a long shot, but have you tried the Birmingham History Forum? There is a thread about Shenley Fields Homes:.

forum.birminghamhistory.co.uk/showthread.php?t=8881

This feels strange to me as although I had nothing to do with the home, I lived near to it as a child. I hope you succeed in your quest.

Jan

PS As I haven't been part of your thread up till now, not up to speed so just asking - I am assuming you have discounted the Johnson/Andrews marriage in 1969?

Rosemary

Rosemary Report 1 Apr 2010 21:23

A million thanks Sue!!
Please keep everything crossed it is our Mary. I can't order the certificate til Tuesday now, but will let you know if it's the right person.

Thankyou Rosemary

Is it just possible that Mary Teresa married a Grimes and went out to Australia in 1966?!
Feeling very annoyed as just payed £5 for credits to search marriage of Colin Grimes to Mary Johnson in the early 1960s and Adobe Reader not working!!!
Is there anyone out there who could help me please??
Many thanks Rosemary

Awwww Rosemary, I'm so very sorry that you haven't had any success in finding out what has happened to Mary Teresa.

Maybe one day, either she, or someone who knows of her, will happen to chance upon this thread..........you just never know.

Best wishes to you.

Hi everyone,

I would like to thank you all for your kind help in trying to find my husband's sister Mary Teresa. Unfortunately we have had no luck at all, and I really can't think of any other avenue to search.
My husband heard from his SW to say that Mary hasn't used the NHS, nor is she registered deceased, so I think it is safe to say that she is abroad somewhere. Also the Salvation Army have just closed the file, they can't find her either.
My sincere thanks to all of you who have spent time trying to help us. If in the future we do have some luck I will let you know through this thread.

Bless you all
Rosemary

Thankyou Mary. I did wonder if the name was known from abroad somewhere, but maybe not.

Thankyou very much.

Well, not a very scientific study I know LOL, but using the surname Troupe on Ancestry births 1837 - 1916, they start off being mostly in Lincolshire in the mid 1800's and then by late 1800's lots to be found in Durham. As time goes on so they get further afield.

Hi,

No luck with the marriage Sheila gave me either.
Does anyone know please where the surname Troupe originates from?
Sheila found a marriage I hadn't tried and we are working on that at the moment. But Troupe is an unusual name and I wondered where it originated.

Thanks Sheila & Janey.
I heard from Mary Knowles but unfortunately she isn't the Mary we are searching for. Tried a marriage Contrary Mary gave me privately, but not the right person. Am waiting for news on a marriage Sheila gave me too but no reply yet.
Thankyou all of you for your kind help

Hi Sheila - I guess I explained that Canada stuff to Rosemary privately. ;)

No BMD ("vital events") registration data is accessible by the pubic in Canada for many years after the event -- the registrations are provincial, but most provinces are about the same: 100 years for births, 85 years for marriages, 75 years for deaths is standard. BC has a more recent cutoff for deaths, for example.

The US I'm not familiar with, but events are registered on a state basis. Ancestry does have social security death info I believe. That can be searched by name at ancestry.com -- I don't have access myself.

Australia and New Zealand would be other possibilities. I'm not familiar with New Zealand and only with the odd Australian state, e.g. NSW has marriages on line up to 1959 and deaths up to 1979, but births only to 1909.

Outgoing passenger lists at FMP are accessible only up to 1960.

So unfortunately I don't think there are any searches in these various places that would be likely to find her, if she were there, since she was known to be in England in 1963.

Hi,

No news yet ? Does anyone know anything about emigration records ? do they have any after the early 1960s ?

Janey do you know if you can check anywhere for Canada or America ? just wondering if she was single then and thought she had no family then, she may have emigrated.
