Hi,
I am looking for a needle in a haystack.... does anyone know of a James Jackson from Scotland who in the 30s resided in Birmingham around the Small heath, Ladywood area. If he is still alive he would be around 90 yrs old. living I presume back in Scotland.
That is all the details I have of him. He is my birth father and I may have relatives in Scotland.
I know it is a long shot but perhaps someone can remember him dating Edna Morgan.
Cheers Pauline.

Pauline, it might be worth contacting the Birmingham Evening Mail to see about an ad. Website www.birminghammail.net
Click on "about us" (at the top) then "contact" and it gives a list of phone numbers.

Hi Jan,

Thank you, I will try that and see what I can find. I recently found out that James Jackson was my birth father and I was born in 1939, he left my mother before my birth and went back to Scotland, I expect that he is no longer alive, but I may have step brothers and sisters. It is sad that I have found out this information so late in my life. Anyway thanks again for your interest.
Cheers Pauline.

Hi, I think now that James Jackson“s parents were living in the Aston or Sparkhill area in the 1937 - 1938 how would I be able to look in the census for those years, is it possible to look on line? I live in Spain so I cannot go to look in person.

Any help would be appreciated.

The most recent census available to the public, online or off, is 1911.

I should think that a letter in the Birmingham mail would be your best option.

Did he marry Edna and was it is Scotland. What were his parents, your grandparents names? The more info I have the easier it will be for me to search the indexes for him.
