trying to find the father of herbert green born 1906 ? where probably leeds/wakefield area herbert married an ellen daly i know from my grandads marriage certificate that his father was called james but i dont know any other information i have an address for herberts family in 1937 when my grandparents got married it was 22 foster street in hunslet leeds west yorkshire i have obtained a birth certificate for a herbert green whose father was a james green but im not quite sure if im going down the right track as i have no relatives i can ask regarding what they called my grandads mother in anticipation of a genes reunited who may be out there who can help with this dilema .i have all the information on my grandmothers side but nothing on grandads side

Do you have a death year for Herbert? were witnesses on the marriage cert relations?

Does the occupation of James match with that given on the marriage cert?

Have you looked at 1911 census
http://fmpbsol.1911census.co.uk/
you can search names for free but need credits to open census info.
you can put in his details and add James as other person in household(this could of course be a brother etc and not always the father) worth a try

unfotunately dont have date of death .my nana died when i was a little girl and grandad remarried my parents divorced and have both died so am at a dead end james occupation on marriage certificate is retired so drawn a blank there have got onto 1911 census but it wont let me buy credits will try and get on later unfotunately i dont know where they lived in 1911 but have got addresses from 1930s but not earlier

1911 Herbert 1906+/-3yrs James Green as other in household. is the year of birth from the marriage cert?. if there was no middle name i think you can dismiss the bottom 3.

I think Mansfield is only showing
Green EDWARD JAMES M 1865 46 Mansfield Nottinghamshire

Stockton i can only match Thomas James Facey with Herbert
Green(this is without using credits so might not have it right)

so it looks like it could be Coventry, Leigh or Prescot areas????

was your parent their only child?
