Have searched for Sidney Davies, using different combinations of spellings for the 1901 census, and nothing is coming up. Could it be possible that if he was in the Merchant Navy, he may have been away at sea at the time that the census was taken? I'm unsure whether a census was taken on ship, if not in port!!
