Find Ancestors

Good morning all.
I am trying to verify the birth details for Mary Lewis born C1878 possibly in Middlesex, England.
These details are based on the 1901 Census in Burntisland, Fife.

Other details that I have managed to trace are that her parents may have been Henry Lewis and Annie Fender. Henry was a painter by trade I think.

If any one is able to find her birth details and perhaps siblings it would be very much appreciated.

Henry Lewis/Annie Fender marriage not found

No luck with the 1881 Census I'm afraid - not unless I'm not searching correctly.

I'm going by records that have been verified - both her marriage records show parents as Henry Alfred Lewis and Annie Fender.
Henry being a House Painter (Journeyman).
Annie Lewis (nee Fender) is noted a deceased prior to Mary's first marriage in 1901 - therefore death of Annie likely between 1878 and 1901.

Census 1901 in Burntisland, Fife clearly shows her birth place as Middlesex, England.

Apart from Mary Lewis, I cannot find anything else, other than the above, related to her family in the Scottish records.

Perhaps if someone would be kind enough to an English search for death record of Annie Lewis (Fender) - this may shed some light??

Sorry, annie gives her birthplace as fife in scotland and mary as edinborough? So henry and annie may have married in scotland then moved to london/middlesex? Regards Linda :)

The 1881 census found looks promising.Mary could have moved to England as baby and didnt know she was born in Scotland.

I'm not so good with the English records, so many thanks for the digging!
It certainly appears that the Census record could be the right family.

I think I have already done a fairly wide marriage search for Henry Lewis and Annie Fender in Scottish records (but will double check).

Given that they are on the 1881 Census, how easy will it be to do a death record search in the English records for Annie and Henry?? Do these records usually show parents??

Linda, Quinsgran and Pam....... getting somewhere....finally.

Not sure why I didn't try this before, but I found Mary's birth in Edinburgh under the name Mary FENDER (mothers maiden name). Seems Annie and Henry were not married when Mary was born !!

That now answers part of the question. Still no marriage in Scotland for Henry A Lewis and Annie Fender, so perhaps they moved down to England shortly after Mary's birth??

Perseverance pays off eventually ..... thanks again for cluing me up!

I've managed to locate the Fender family through the tips provided and added those that I can verify.
Still have some digging to do, but well on the way now with this line of family.
