Hi Fiona you could look on this site and do a search they are showing WW! Medal Cards

http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/documentsonline/search-results.asp?searchtype=browserefine&query=first_name%3dthomas%7clast_name%3dwatson%7cscope%3dcorporal&catid=10&pagenumber=1&querytype=1&mediaarray=*

There are a few Thomas Watson and I also think there is one for the Royal Artillery

Have a look and see what you think

Good Luck

Jacqueline, If it is for watsof11 then yes it is.
If it is for someone else then I am assuming that they have borrowed the photos from me as the family are fairly convinced that the photo of Thomas Senior with his sons is the only one in existance that shows Robert (he died during WW2 and his home in bath was bombed so all photos of him as an adult were lost)

Sablon - I thought CWGC only helps if he died during the war and I am pretty certain he was alive in the late 30's (although I know from Thaoms Juniors marriage cert he was dead by 1941)

Any other ideas gratefully accepted

I hate this man's name - it is far too common.
Thomas was born 4 May 1892 in gateshead.
When his first son Thomas is born (illegitimately) on 19 Nov 1914 he does not appear to be in the forces- occupation shows as upholsterer.
He marries Jane Ellen Atkinson Monaghan on 3 Mar 1915 and is shown as an upholsterer journeyman.

By the time their son Robert is born on 13 Apr 1916 he is shown as a driver in the Army Service Corps.
Finally when the last son Stanley is born on 30 Dec 1919 he is shown as an ex driver Royal Field Artillery.

I also have a photograph of Thomas Senior with Thomas Junior and Robert which shows him in uniform with Corporal stripes and what appears to be a Royal Field Artillery cap badge.

How do I find out what his military number was so that I can track down his service records? Any help gratefully accepted
Fiona
