Mary was about 5 years older than Daniel, on the 1851 he is 21 and she is 26, so he would have been too young to be in service with her.
Off to a wedding now so probably won't be back until tomorrow
Many thanks for all your efforts so far

funny you say that she may have been in service as i came accross a lot of Mary a Harris (some on their own) when I looked for you, they were all about 15 - 17 which would make sense, so maybe that 1841 census is her family?

Hello Ginny
I found that one as well. I got Ann's birth certificate, 28/1/1838. My Mary Ann was 'of full age' on her marriage certificate in 1850. I had thought that maybe Mary Ann was an older child, possibly in service in 1841. However it seems that Henry and Sarah did not marry until 1827 and had a child in 1828, it doesn't rule these out as her parents but it looks unlikely.

Hello Clitheroelass
She married Daniel Smith, although he's transcribed as David on most censuses.

On the marriage certificate of my Great x 2 Grandmother, Mary Ann Harris it gives her father as Henry Harris, shoemaker. The marriage took place in the parish church in Hempsted, very close to Gloucester, in January 1850. The certificate does not say that Henry was deceased.
I have found 2 Henry Harris's who were shoemakers in Gloucester. The first, on the 1841, was living in the St Nicolas area with wife Sarah. I bought the birth certificate for one of their younger children which gave me the mother's maiden name as Pritchard. However IGI (submitted) has Henry and Sarah marrying in 1827 and from the census they had children born in 1828, 1834 and 1838. I'm not discounting them as Mary Anne's parents but I have my doubts.
The other Henry Harris I found on the 1851 with wife Mary but can't find him on the 1841.
From censuses Mary Anne's year of birth could be anywhere between 1825 and 1829.
Can anyone find either Mary Ann or Henry on the 1841, on her marriage cert Mary's occupation is Boot Binder.
Thanks to anyone who looks
Pam
