Hi
I wondered if anyone can locate Thomas William Watson born abt 1866 Brotherton in Yorks on the 1901 census.

I have found him on the 1911 in Barnsley with his wife Jane E (nee Calvert married 1887) & 7 children and I grandchild. In 1891 he is in Leeds with his wife and 3 children. In 1901 Jane E is in Hull with 8 children. She is shown as married head of house.

I have tried to find Thomas on his own and no luck. I realise this is a very common surname, but he must be somewhere. I have looked on the original census for Hull with his family and he is not listed.

The family have obviously moved around a lot so this also makes it difficult. I have taken 1866 as his birth from census as there are two possibles from freebmd registered in Castelford one in 1865 and again in 1867. Any help would be appreciated. HIs occupation in 1911 is boiler stoker.

Thanks

Sharon

Hi Alan

Thanks for that. I did wonder about a workhouse but couldn't find anything. I have just googled Thorne Yorkshire and it comes up as Doncaster so possibly one of closest to Hull/Barnsley. Not sure if one in Shipley (Bradford area) also - but in the right county anyway.

What site did you get that info off as I have been going mad looking for something like this.

EDIT - so excited didn't read reply properly. I see his birth is Shipley so I do not think this is my Thomas. But thanks for looking.

Thanks

Sharon

Sharon,
My searches done on Ancestry.
I assumed birth was Shipley..........could be wrong though.
Thought it a good co-incidence that one employed as a Boiler Stoker and the other a Foundary worker. I wouldnt completely dismiss my offering at this stage.
