Trying to find the parents of James Harrison 1880 from Liverpool.
I have the details of his two children- Samuel (my great granfather) and Edith. I also know that James married a lady called Elizabeth Shone.
James once owned a Butchers shop in Liverpool on Athol Street but drank all his profits. He then moved to work at Hewitts Butchers at Scotland Road.
Any information on his parents would be truely appreciated. Or indeed of his wife's parents.

His marriage cert would have fathers details, but if he married in 1888 then he was born well before 1880

A possibility, but there are a surprising number of Shones in Liverpool. You do need the marriage cert I think.

Yeah I guess you are right Andrew.
Marrying in 1888 rings a bell. Edith (his daughter) was much older than his son. Much older. Perhaps this birth year was one that I filled just to give myself an idea.
I think the marriage in 1888 is reasonable. No idea of his actual age though.

Elizabeth Harrison (nee Shone) was born in Buckley.

Birth reg is a problem with 5 options in 1866 but none in 1867

most probably 1866 then Alan.
His family were from Liverpool. No specific area. Just the city as far as I know. Later family were born in Huyton Quarry in Liverpool Suburbs. Does this help ?

This might be Elizabeth with her parents and siblings. Age for Ellen, her mother agrees with 1891 census.

Given the youngest child on 1881 Census was 1yr then possible 1880 is a better bet...
