I have finally found out that Effie was actually born Euphemia Walker Anderson on 3rd July 1907 in Edinburgh. Her mother Margaret was my great grandmother's sister, so making her my grandfather's cousin.......just like he said she was :-))

My OH's grandmother worked for an actress between 1901 and 1905ish. I found a few postcards of the actress (Marie George) on e-bay and purchased a few of them. Also, because she was in music hall I managed to find a few more through the music hall society.

Does anyone have this lady in their tree or know anything about this lady?

According to my late grandfather she was his cousin. How close a cousin I don't know. There is very little about her on the www. just mention of a few films she was in and a couple of plays she was in with Noel Coward (sp).

Today I have finally found her on a ships passenger list going to the USA in 1925 aged 18 and returning in 1926 (still aged 18) with a whole lot of other actors/actresses, but other than that, nothing! No birth or marriage for her so I can only assume at the present that Effie Atherton was a stage name.

According to my mother, Effie was involved in some car accident and because it left her with facial scars she never worked on the stage again. Although she was only a minor *star* I would still have expected there to be some sort of story about her accident, but again, I haven't found any reference to it. The last film she appeared in (that I know about) was in 1935.

If anyone can throw any more light on this woman I would be very grateful. Many thanks.
