I did miss one vital thing which my dad forgot to tell me. His birthday was in October!

Having taken a look at FreeBMD, it was also noted that Llanhilleth, the supposed place of birth of Raymond Parker, was indeed in Pontypool, but now under Bedwellty. The boundaries had moved in 1935 meaning that at his time of birth, they would be in a different place. My dad who is also from the same area, was registered at Bedwellty, which obviously caused a little bit of confusion.

Recorded in several spellings including Roseblade, Roseblead, and Rosblade, this is an English surname probably of Elizabethan origins. Today there would seem to be many more nameholders in the USA, and recent research suggests that there are only about twenty families in the British Isles. The make up of the name implies that it was locational from a place called Roseblade. English compound surnames commencing with "Rose" usually refer to a person originally from a place or places such as Roseberry in the county of Yorkshire, Rosegrove in Lancashire, Rosehill in Cheshire, and many more. However no place called Roseblade or similar has been found in any of the known gazetters of England for the past three centuries. Gwyneth Roseblade and Raymond Parker married JAS 1939 Bedwelty, Monmouthshire (11a233). I hope you can find some more details on the marriage certificate.

1881 - here's a likely connection - Abertillery and Bedwellty are both in Gwent and this is an unusual surname

Hi all,
In very early stages, its already getting difficult on the other side of the tree. My father's father, Ray Parker died 1st September 1999. He was born in Llanhilleth, Abertillery, Wales in approximately 1921. His actual age and year of birth are unknown as he lied about his age.

He married Gwyneth Roseblade who was born in 1921, and his father is a Frederick Charles Parker, but again no information is known. His mother's name is unknown.

I've tried searching FreeBMD, but the death has to be "Before 1984", which it's not. The marriage date is unknown and there are no records for a Roseblade and Parker between 1920 and 1980.

Hope I've given enough information there to try and find a starting point. Any information about where I can start would be fantastic.
