This man's widow, Elizabeth, took in one of my gr grandfather's sisters after they were orphaned and, although Mary Ann was listed as 'boarder' in 1881, she was listed as niece in 1891. Her deceased husband's birthplace makes him the likely relative because all of Mary Ann's family was born in Winchester, going back for generations. |

Mary Ann was a Gauntlett. Her mother, whose relative he could also be of course, was Fanny Thompson although at 5ys old in 1841 she is obviously being brought up by her Cooper grandparents, while her mother and new Osman husband were staying there at the time. |
