Find Ancestors

Trying to trace his ancestors. James married Jessie Goodwin and had 4 children Nellie, James, Eliza and ethel. By 1901 James has died. Can't find on 1911 census and can't find james on 1881 census back. (I know in 1891 he was in the USA for three years as james is born there)
Any help would be great.

Well i have found relatives of the James born in the US they are as in the dark as i am about James Newns Lee's origins. Got wedding certificate and father is William....also thought the Newns may be his mother maiden name so had a play...but no luck I know he was born in 1864 but can't find a birth record. If his listed as just James then there are just too many....thanx for all the help

What was Williams occupation on James's marriage certificate? What was the address given and who were the witnesses?

I wonder if James's mother remarried at some stage and James took on his stepfathers name aswell??

what was James occupation when he married?

Hello again.... James's occupation is a hairdresser on wedding cert to jessie jane Godwin. William his father is not listed as deceased and is a shopman he lives at 406 Price St, Birkenhead. However as far as i know you can just trawl a street on a census, and price st seems to be spread over lots of different ennumerators records.

Witnesses - William Povale (Povall) and edith annie goodwin.

Tried to find a marriage between a William Lee and a Newns, but no luck.
I can't think of any other angles at present.
