cm049385 Report 30 Aug 2009 06:37

Trying to find out about John Thompson born in Warwick Qld in 1896. He married Nora and had two daughters (Dulcie Irene and Joan Isabel). John worked on the railways and before he died lived and worked in Murrurundi NSW where he died 29/9/1961.

His daughter Joan (my mother) had at least 3 children (two boys and one daughter) and she never married.

Dulcie married but had no children and died in 1993.

Would love to hear from anyone who might have connections with the family as we are searching blind.

It is possible to do a family history search for the earlier births and marriages. Once you have BDMs which fall outside the historical indexes it is very hard to search.

You may be better going on line to the Queensland BDM and the NSW Bdm and completing the paperwork and asking for information.

As you are connected by birth you may make some progress this way.

Good luck. PS The NSW BDM has been out of action all afternoon so don't tear your hair out over that one.

Unable to make any connection with our Froyland's in Western Australia.
Our Grandfather: Charles John Froyland (Norwegian Registration of name is Carl Johan Froyland) was born 1869 in Grimstad, Norway. His parents are Daniel Larsen Froyland b.1837 Sokndal - Rogaland and Barbro Thomasdatter b.1840 Christiansand, Norway. Daniel's parents are Lars Davidsen and Elken Jensdatter.

Daniel Larsen Froyland lived with his parents Lars Davidsen and Elken Jensdatter at FROYLAND, so this is where the surname came from. Froyland was a farm in Sokndal, and in the 1865 census there were 80 people connected to this farm, so it must have been a big farm. Now (2012) it seems to be more of an area of houses, among them is the Froyland daycarecenter.
