Williams obituary (1935) mentions his brother Mr Winstanley so it looks as if his mother remarried or married(!) sometime after his birth. I have come up with a J Winstanley b about 1879 but not totally sure. |

The 1881 census details I have show Wiilliam Brown living at 60 Stone street with Thomas and Mary but it shows his relationship as being nephew. |
