Hi
Didnt realise not all the info was shown on the request. It is Leyburn, uncles and aunts were ann henry thomas george mary. Florence's 20.28 posting is the right family but I have a missing link in that I know the information in the posting and the descendants from William Robert but I cannot identify who his mother/father were. According census inf Thomas was his uncle.

Thanks for getting involved.

You were right Flo - It was Leyburn in Yorkshire.

Not to worry Linda, it is very easily done - you type in the info and expect it to be there but on GR, I am afraid it is often 'blipped' out.

I am sure Flo will be back soon with the rest of the info she has found.

Williams obituary (1935) mentions his brother Mr Winstanley so it looks as if his mother remarried or married(!) sometime after his birth. I have come up with a J Winstanley b about 1879 but not totally sure.

The 1881 census details I have show Wiilliam Brown living at 60 Stone street with Thomas and Mary but it shows his relationship as being nephew.
This made me think one of Thomas's brothers or sisters was williams father/mother.
If thomas is Williams father and it is a mistake (or I have the wrong info) it makes my assumption of John Winstanley b 1879 as being incorrect.

Flo

Yes,
William Robert
I have a family bible which is to mary Brown from her affectionate brother Robert - dated 1872 Beckenham Kent - which would make it about the time of William Roberts birth in Yorkshire. I cannot find a census entry for 1871 but there seems to be a 1881 match with a new wife - Clara
