I have been searching in vain for the death of ELLIS EVANS born c 1899 in Pontypridd, Mid Glamorgan. Ellis was my husband's grandfather and all we know is that when he died his wife EMILY Agnes Ann Nelson and son SELWYN moved back to London from Wales. Family stories say that Ellis died when his son Selwyn was young - about 13 - which would make it 1938 but this may not be true! I cannot find anything on free bmd and wondered if anyone was able to search elsewhere. |

There is a Ellis Evans on the 1901 census born Ystradyfodwg glamorgan - he was living with Martha married aged 29 at 22 Furnace Road He had a brother Griffiths A Evans. They belonged to the eccleastical parish of Tylorstown Pontywaith..is this the same person? if so where was he married as his burial is likely to have been in the same place. The area was predominantly for coal mining families and they are likely to have been born, married and buried in the same area. |

Thanks. This is him! He married in Pontypridd in 1924 - address on marriage cert is is 52 Middle Terrace, Pontypridd. I have tried to narrow down my search to this are but getting nowhere! I have looked at a few of the BMD records on here - some quarters are returning the wrong pages! and I'm running out of credits!! We know Griffith died in WW1 in 1917. |

I've looked all the way through the actual death records for you Gai, from 1935 to 1945. There's more than a dozen Ellis Evans deaths, but they all seem to be in the north of Wales and they are all too old. There was one Ellis Evans death in Pontypridd in 1945 (2nd quarter), but he was shown as 69 years old at death (so born circa1876) |

Thanks Paul & Choccy - I think that is him aged 29 - his son would have only been 3 but that's family stories for you! |
