Emma Booth's sister Annie in 1901:
Name: Annie Townsend Age: 28 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1873 Relation: Wife Spouse's Name: John Where born: Hardwicke, Gloucestershire, England Civil parish: Chiswick, Middlesex
John Townsend 27 Annie Townsend 28 Eleanor A Townsend 5
Marriages Jun 1895 Booth Annie Ellen Paddington 1a 126 Townsend John Paddington 1a 126
If Emma Booth *is* your Emily, she just might have been a witness. Not that this would tell you anything -- unless she had married already and signed as Emma/Emily Cook -- or a first married surname ... > > A GR member has both Emma Booth and Annie Booth in her tree.
> > Another GR member has James Cook 1872 Maidstone in her tree.
They might be able to rule both people in/out for your search.

The really big problem is that Emily aged only 5 years from 1901 to 1911! Makes it hard to know what to be searching for. I'd think second wife, except the place of birth is the same.
Just for the sake of completeness, is this another child of theirs?
Births Jun 1914 COOK Jack E P (Booth) Gloucester 6a 572
Re the Emily aged 1 in 1911 -- there is no matching birth, I'm sure you know. ;) (For Emily as either first or middle given name.)
In 1901, both were old enough to have had previous marriages, i.e. Emily could have married under a different surname -- or they simply may never have married.
This is the Emma posted by Vicci for 1881 (definitely the closest match, I agree):
Births Dec 1875 Booth Emma Tewkesbury 6a 431
Aargh, finally. 1891:
Name: Emma Borth Age: 14 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1877 Relation: Daughter Father's Name: Stephen Mother's Name: Ellen Where born: Elmstone Hardwicke, Gloucestershire, England Civil parish: Hucclecote
Stephen Borth 47 Ellen Borth 51 Emma Borth 14
I wonder whether this is sister Annie in 1891:
Name: Annie Booth Age: 18 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1873 Relation: Servant Where born: Bishops Cleeve, Gloucestershire, England (~3 miles from Hardwicke) Civil parish: Paddington
(it kind of has to be; there's no record to account for that Annie otherwise) and whether maybe Emma followed her into service in London.
Could this be James?
Births Mar 1872 COOK James William Maidstone 2a 631
1881:
Name: James W. Cook Age: 9 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1872 Relation: Step Son Where born: Maidstone, Kent, England Civil parish: Tonbridge
Samuel Tuppenny 63 - cordwainer, born Ticehurst, Sussex Agnes Tuppenny 33 - born Cranbrook, Kent James W. Cook 9 Alfred T. Cook 1
1891, Alfred is a Tuppenny and James is gone:
Agnes Tuppenny 43 Alfred Tuppenny 11 Joseph Tuppenny 9 George Tuppenny 6 Lucy C Tuppenny 5 Amelia Rhodes 23
My best guess for James in 1891 - the place of birth (I finally looked at the image) in fact looks nothing like "Longbridge" and is Tunbridge Wells. That seems to be where the above JWC grew up.
Name: James Cook Age: 19 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1872 Relation: Lodger Where born: Longbridge, Kent, England Occupation: General labourer Civil parish: Milton, Kent
No closer to a marriage, but I think those might be your two people.

Thank you all for taking the time to look for me, I really appreciate it.
Not too likely that Emily jnr was born in Hereford, she died in Glos and no Florence mentioned on the death cert
This one was investigated and dismissed Name: Emily Augusta Cook Estimated Birth Year: abt 1897 Year of Registration: 1899 Quarter of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep Age at Death: 2 District: Gloucester (1837-1937) County: Gloucestershire Volume: 6a Page: 204
Emma Booth..... I saw that one but without their marriage I cannot get Emilys father... so frustrating

Re that 1891:
"Kens, Louth, Ireland" is inexplicable. Another stupid Ancestry trick.
The image actually says:
"Lon. Kens."
for father John and "do" for all the others -- i.e. London, Kensington. There's an Ireland way up the page ...
So I think that's not him.

Might this help ?
I found a Florence Emily Cook, registered Hereford July 1/4 1897, 6A 487. It often happened that a child could be known by the second name, not necessarily the first !!!

This is one of my brickwalls.... I have picked it up and put it down many times over the last couple of years.
I have this family in 1901 in Gloucester
James Cook 30 Head - builders lab -born Kent (NK) Emily Cook 28 Wife - born Hardwick, Gloucestershire Emily Cook 3 daughter - born Gloucestershire James Cook 1 son - born Gloucestershire living at 4 Gloucester Place, Gloucester.
Then again in 1911
James Cook 38 - Head - born Ireland! - Invalid Emily Cook 33 - wife - born Hardwick James Cook 12 - Glos George Cook 9 - Glos Leonard Cook 5 - Glos Harry Cook 2 - Glos Emily Cook 1 - Glos living at 15 Portland St, Gloucester.
married 14yrs, 5 children born , 4 living, 1 died. There are 5 children above but James has not filled in the Son/daughter bit (thanks James!) so I do not know if Emily aged 1 is their daughter. The boys are all theirs as I have checked at the records office.
Some facts:- Emily Jnr born 1897 died in a accident in 1905, have death cert. Did they then name another daughter Emily?
James Snr is James William and that has been interchangable over the years (not helpful) he died as William James.
Emily Snr's maiden name is Booth according to the boys' birth reg's. She died Sept q 1957 aged 82
Leonard is actually Dolphin Leonard! _________________________________________________
My stumblng blocks are......
I cannot find a marriage for James William Cook & Emily Booth
I cannot find a birth for their daughter Emily Cook born 1897
I cannot trace James or Emily prior to 1901 with any certainty due to lack of marriage cert.
Shall I give up on this one?
