Yes Janey, that is the information that I was trying to get from Mozart1!!!!

Really without that it is impossible to have any hope of identifying the correct Charles in earlier census records.

Finding records of the house may not be much help if it was leased or rented the records may only show the name of the landlord or owner.

JaneyCanuck Report 9 Oct 2009 16:57

Instead of people prying out info drip by drop, can you just give the info on the marriage certificate?

Charles's occupation.
Occupation of his father Evan.
Name and occupation of Charles's wife's father.
Witnesses' names.

(edited - got my Charles and Robert mixed up)

mozart1

mozart1 Report 9 Oct 2009 16:49

Yes Evan Roberts is the father.

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 9 Oct 2009 16:28

You have the marriage certificate, apparently.
Evan Roberts is the father's name on it?

mozart1

mozart1 Report 9 Oct 2009 16:20

No, not yet as there are a number of possibilities of which one he is one, Evan Roberts. Not certain which Evan.

Between 1901 and 1891 is when Charles may have taken over the house
and if it was his father who was living there it would be shown but I can't find anything.

rootgatherer

rootgatherer Report 9 Oct 2009 12:31

So, what was his father's name and occupation on the certificate?

Your original request on this thread was "Trying to find who was the father of Charles Roberts born 1864". Have you found his father? Have you found Charles himself on any census records prior to his marriage?

mozart1

mozart1 Report 9 Oct 2009 10:27

Hi
I have a copy that just says Llynclys Hill Oswestry
and there are a dozen cottages on the Hill.

Wise to take the advice there, delete that thread (people who do the family history searches here don't generally spend time on the Chat board), post a thread on Records, and note that in this thread.

If this thread is relevant to the question, you could include the URL for this thread in a post on Records:

Is there a way of finding out who lived at Laural Cottage, Llynclus Hill, Llanyblodwell,Oswestry in 1895?
In other words in between the Census dates
1891 and 1901?

Oh my, that one's been deleted. What Dea said about it in the first thread linked above:

I 'feel another thread' is on this family.
I have looked into this before.
If so, could you please post a link to your original thread where I feel sure there is more info already found?
Thanks,
Dea x

What alviegal said:

Why are you asking again Brian for information that has already been found for you.
It just wastes everyone's time. Please read everything on your other thread.

What I said:

If you want to pursue this, Brian, you had better go back to your existing thread about the family, where all the work was done to find info for you, and where all that info is.
The board rule is One Post Per Topic. You'd be wise to apologize for wasting time in this thread, too.

and instead, you just deleted all the work people had done.

I think you will find people grow tired of this soon.

And then there's this:

http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards.asp?wci=thread&tk=1179099

and this:

http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards.asp?wci=thread&tk=1180798

No, Brian, they aren't unrelated topics. They are people who married each other. And other members here will continue to go looking for info that you already have, every time you post a new question about one of them and do not provide the info you already have.

Yes, that's what confused me. There doesn't appear to be anything on earlier Census's with 1864 birth, or even 1862 or 1865 that you can say is definitely him.

Thank you all anyway.

These seem to be the only census that have a Charles Roberts b 8164, Oswestry so either his birth year or place of birth is different in earlier census.

I'm sure you have this but it is helpful to those trying to assist you.

Surname First name(s) District Vol Page

Roberts Charles Oswestry 6a 1304
Tannatt Elizabeth Oswestry 6a 1304

So on that marriage certificate what is his father's name and occupation and is he still alive or deceased?

mozart1

mozart1 Report 6 Oct 2009 16:17

He married a Elizabeth Tannatt yet on the 1901 Census he claimed to be a Widower yet according to my research and others who have helped, his wife was apparently still alive and ther's no record of a second marriage. I would really like to find out though who his father was,
might have been Edward, Evan or even Thomas, once again we're not sure.

rootgatherer Report 6 Oct 2009 16:10

You presumably know the name of the mother of his children? Did he marry her?
